WMC 2009
The Winter Music Conference 2009, most commonly referred to as WMC 09, was a weeklong electronic dance music event, held from March 24 - 28 2009 in Miami Beach. It was aimed at professionals such as artists, DJs, record label representatives (A&R), producers, promoters, radio and the media.
Events
In 2009 the WMC introduced the first annual WMC VJ Challenge at The Miami Beach Resort & Spa with celebrity hosts, judges, and VJs from various parts of the world hosted by VJ Psyberpxie and Felix Sama.[1] The Miami Beach Resort also received the performance of the RoboMusic Demo in which Funkstar De Luxe and RoboProfessor (Henrik Hautop Lund) create live interactive compositions of RoboMusic.
- Events and Panels
- M-Rock presented a demonstration of Digital Juggling, a new technique of remixing whil playing live.[2]
- DJ Spin-off, hosted by Felix Sama and DJ Shortee, included judges such as DJ Immortal from the Scratch DJ Academy, Jesse Saunders from BrokenRecords.us, DJ Serafin, John Morales of M&M Mix Productions, and Lady Foursquare of the Noise Floor Crew.[2]
- The South Beach Sessions featured the Florida International University & The Wolfsonian which presented SHARE, an open jam event for beginners and underground experts, which usually occurse in New York or St. Petersburg and for the first time in Miami.
24th IDMA
Just like every year, the WMC hosted the International Dance Music Awards (IDMA).
Ultra Music Festival 11
On March 27 and 28, the Ultra Music Festival (UMF 11) was present at the WMC. This year it included 10 stages with more than 200 artists and over 40,000 crowd members.
